Tahitanga Health Centre
Synergistic healthcare for the community

Funding Our Future
How do we fund such a large project?
Tahitanga is based on a community trust, not-for-profit model. While it isn’t often done, it does exist. Due to the current culture in the healthcare and wellness sector, we found it extremely important to allow the community to support and make decisions for their own care working with (not for) our public health system. We need to be part of the change we want to see. This project is so important as it affects absolutely every person in this community with far reaching affects across our region. We hope to show other communities that they too can make a change for their community healthcare. While we understand the importance of public health services, they are failing in a multitude of ways. This is an opportunity to develop a system that works in a synergistic way .
The dynamics between fund raising from the community and organisations along with grants have the ability, financially, to keep the care, integrity and profits within our community. The foundations are being created to find the best way to fund and support this project, which in return can give so much back to the community. Without the need for profits and investment payouts, we can put the money into offering accessible, affordable care to everyone in our community treating whole health.
We have a brilliant grant writing committee and a fundraising committee. We are excited and confident that we have the capacity to meet our goals fairly quickly. Up until this point, our volunteers have donated all of the information and progress. We wanted to make sure it was feasible and we had enough in place to be confident to execute such a large project before we reached out to the community. WE ARE! To be able to accomplish this. We are fundraising to purchase a well established medical centre to build our lab and integrate into the hospital and medical community. We have secured our first $10,000,000 (yes you saw that right) without debt. We are now looking for $10,000,000 to execute the purchase.
This donation goal covers the following:
The final 10 million allows us to purchase the medical centre for our community. As a community trust, this centre will become the ownership of Nelson/Tasman community members, securing our medical future for generations to come.
Please consider donating. We promise to hold the integrity of this project and make sure our community is extremely proud to be part of it.
We look forward to giving back in a profound way. We are truly thankful for all the support!
